RamCorps 4-H Youth Development Outreach Specialist

Colorado State University is seeking a 4-H Youth Development Outreach Specialist to promote youth development programs emphasizing 4-H STEM. This role involves planning and delivering educational programs for youth, engaging with the community, and evaluating program impact.

Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, lead, deliver and evaluate hands-on and educational Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (S.T.E.A.M.) programs and/or activities for youth ages 5-18 in a variety of settings
Attend public outreach events related to youth and community development (i.e. back to school nights, holiday events, summer festivals). Through these events, the AmeriCorps members will familiarize themselves with the various neighborhoods we serve and local organizations that support those communities
Revise and update existing 4-H curricula as needed to maintain relevancy for our urban community as well as specific community needs
Develop and distribute engaging promotional materials for Denver Extension programs and /or activities including flyers, brochures, social media, and other related educational content
Collect, document and report quantitative and qualitative impact data for quarterly progress reports and monthly impact statements

Required

Must be at least 18 years old at start of service
Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a driver's license by the employment start date
Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States
Able to pass a National Service Criminal History Check (state, FBI, and National Sex Offender Public Website checks) per 45 CFR 2540.202
High school diploma or G.E.D
Previous experience in education, youth development, community outreach, STEM or other related fields
Understanding of child development stages and applied classroom management skills including verbal and written communication, public speaking, and interpersonal abilities when working with youth

Preferred

Demonstrated knowledge of basic online graphic design tools based on submitted application materials
Bilingual in English and Spanish

Benefits

A living allowance of approximately $741.81 for full time per pay period on a bi-weekly cycle for an approximate total of $16,320 for the term of service.
An education award of $5,176.50 earned upon successful completion of term of service.
It is possible to temporarily postpone repayment of qualified student loans through forbearance while serving as an AmeriCorps member.
Possible mileage reimbursement for travel to required trainings and days of service.
