Recreation Coordinator - Events + Engagement
NEOGOV is seeking a Recreation Coordinator - Events + Engagement to join the Town of Windsor's Parks, Recreation, and Culture Department. This role involves coordinating special events, managing volunteers, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance community engagement through events and programs.

Responsibilities
Plan, develop, and implement special events and community programs that align with organizational goals and town initiatives, including budgeting, event logistics, and evaluation of outcomes
Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff, contractors, and volunteers, ensuring effective coordination of work activities and high-quality program delivery
Serve as a liaison among town departments, vendors, community partners, and outside organizations to facilitate collaborations, sponsorships, and contractual agreements
Oversee marketing and promotional efforts for events and programs, including social media, print materials, and specialized campaigns, while maintaining participation records and program inventories
Ensure event and program safety by anticipating risks, enforcing procedures, and serving as a role model for professional conduct
Develop innovative community events, partnerships, and sponsorship opportunities to enhance engagement, program quality, and revenue generation
Perform administrative tasks including purchasing, financial tracking, budget recommendations, and reporting to management or Town Board on program and event outcomes
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Leisure Administration, or related field preferred
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related field, such as recreation, programming, etc
Must have a current Colorado Driver's License or the ability to obtain one upon hire, that meets the Town of Windsor's standards
CPR/1st Aid certification within three (3) months of employment
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including regular evenings and weekends, and manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong organizational and time-management skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively as part of a team
Knowledge of recreation programs and special events serving all ages, with proven skills in event planning, coordination, and execution
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with staff, volunteers, vendors, participants, families, and the public
Strong problem-solving, reasoning, and decision-making skills, including the ability to remain calm and de-escalate difficult or stressful situations
Knowledge of inclusive recreation practices, including basic understanding of physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional needs of individuals with disabilities and the ability to apply appropriate accommodations
Ability to operate Town vehicles and equipment as assigned, including multi-passenger and accessible vans, and safely manage program-related logistics
Proficiency in standard office equipment and computer software, including recreation management systems (e.g., RecTrac), Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and basic graphic design tools
Ability to apply basic mathematical skills for program operations, financial transactions, and reporting
Preferred
Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience preferred
Previous experience in recreation program development and implementation preferred
Certified Parks and Recreation Professional certification preferred
