Responsibilities

Assists senior architectural staff with the design, documentation, and analysis of Enterprise network architectures, including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, data center, and network security components
Prepares logical and physical network diagrams, supports the development of architecture standards and design patterns, and documents configuration guidelines and architectural decisions
Supports implementation planning activities by assisting with migration strategies, cutover planning, and coordination with engineering teams and agency IT staff to ensure approved architectural designs are implemented as intended
Reviews existing network environments to identify design gaps, inconsistencies, legacy technical debt, and opportunities for modernization
Supports architectural review processes, analyzes network performance and compliance data, assists with technology evaluations, and contributes to documentation related to security, business continuity, and disaster recovery architecture
Collaborates with engineering, operations, security, and agency partners to promote consistent, secure, and supportable network solutions across the Commonwealth

Required

Six years of professional information technology experience and a bachelor's degree; or
Ten years of professional information technology experience; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training
You must be able to travel as required, including occasional overnight travel
You must be available to work outside normal business hours when necessary to support implementation activities, maintenance windows, or incident response
You must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical stakeholders
You must be able to use a computer and standard office software for documentation, analysis, and technical research
You must be able to work independently on assigned tasks while collaborating effectively within a team environment
You must be able to perform essential job functions
You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements

Preferred

Experience supporting enterprise network environments in a large or complex organization
Familiarity with network architecture concepts, design documentation, or architectural review processes
Exposure to routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, or network security technologies
Experience creating or maintaining network diagrams, technical documentation, or configuration standards
Familiarity with cloud networking concepts or hybrid network environments
Industry-recognized entry-level networking or security certifications, such as Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or CompTIA Security+
Demonstrated interest in professional development and advancement within network architecture or engineering disciplines
