Nuclear Electrical Design Engineer Subject Matter Expert

ReNuke Services is seeking a Nuclear Electrical Design Engineer Subject Matter Expert for our client’s site in Southport, NC. The selected individual will perform design engineering work for Electrical projects within the engineering organization, focusing on electrical system design and compliance with nuclear regulations.

Responsibilities

Perform design engineering work for Electrical projects within the engineering organization
Assess existing systems
Identify system requirements
Design replacement requirements
Work with selected vendors
Identify testing requirements
Support system installation
Act as the SME Design Engineer for assigned projects
Develop design packages
Develop conceptual designs and specifications for bidding purposes
Evaluate alternatives
Provide technical support during implementation
Conduct setpoint development
Coordinate design efforts with selected vendors/AEs/designers
Conduct design package reviews
Exhibit sound technical judgment and guidance to the project team

Qualification

Electrical Design ExperienceNuclear Industry ExperienceModification Engineer QualificationProfessional Engineer LicenseDigital Hardware/Software ModificationsCyber Security Regulations KnowledgeCommunication SkillsTeamwork

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent work experience
10+ years engineering experience in the nuclear industry
Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear facility (General Employee Training, Radiation Worker Training, Security Clearance checks and subject to the site's Fitness for Duty Program)
Strong oral / written communication skills within a professional environment
Skilled in the practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations
Must be able to work in a team environment

Preferred

Registration/Licensure as a Professional Engineer
Experience in digital hardware / software modifications
Digital / I&C engineering experience at Brunswick Nuclear Plant
Working knowledge of digital upgrade specific licensing requirements and current 10CFR73.54 Cyber Security Requirements
Experience developing digital / software modification test plans
Experience in the 10CFR50.59 with respect to designing modifications to a nuclear facility
