Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage SQL database environments
Monitor and optimize database performance, queries, and indexing
Ensure high availability, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery
Manage database security, access control, and compliance
Perform database tuning, capacity planning, and upgrades
Troubleshoot database issues and resolve production incidents
Support application teams with schema design and query optimization
Automate database tasks using scripts and tools
Maintain documentation and operational runbooks
Participate in on-call support and incident response
Qualification
Required
3–8+ years of experience working with SQL databases
Strong hands-on experience with: Microsoft SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL / MySQL / Oracle
Strong knowledge of: SQL queries, stored procedures, functions
Indexing strategies and execution plans
Experience with: Backup & recovery
Replication and clustering
Performance monitoring and tuning
Understanding of ACID principles and relational data modeling
Experience in Linux and/or Windows environments
Familiarity with version control and change management
Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
Preferred
Cloud databases: AWS RDS / Azure SQL / Cloud SQL
High availability setups (Always On, replication, failover clusters)
Automation using PowerShell, Python, or Bash
Experience with ETL / data pipelines
Exposure to DevOps / CI-CD environments
Knowledge of compliance standards (SOX, PCI, HIPAA)
