Responsibilities
Manage and maintain the agency’s virtualized infrastructure, including on-premises hardware (servers, storage), hypervisors (vSphere), and cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure)
Design, build, implement, and troubleshoot virtualized systems hosted on VMware, AWS, and Azure
Lead system upgrades, migrations, and architecture improvements to support evolving business and IT needs
Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of virtual machines (VMs) and infrastructure across on-prem and cloud service provider (CSP) environments
Monitor and optimize the performance of virtual environments, ensuring efficient resource utilization
Diagnose and resolve complex virtualization issues, including VM performance, connectivity, and security challenges
Implement and manage advanced backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure resilience and data availability
Ensure security compliance by applying patches, updates, and security configurations across virtual environments
Maintain comprehensive documentation of virtualization environments, procedures, and operational policies
Collaborate with IT teams and stakeholders to integrate virtualization solutions with other enterprise systems
Provide guidance, leadership, and mentorship to junior virtualization administrators and IT staff
Research and evaluate emerging virtualization technologies, reporting on potential value and adoption strategies
Drive continuous improvement in virtualization processes, including automation, monitoring, and disaster recovery practices
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field—or equivalent experience
5–7 years of experience leading virtualization administration with VMware, Hyper-V, or similar
Proven ability to design and troubleshoot complex virtual environments in on-prem and cloud (Azure/AWS)
Experience automating infrastructure deployment via Azure DevOps, PowerShell, CLI, PowerCLI, and Terraform
Hands-on background integrating IaC practices into CI/CD pipelines
Excellent troubleshooting and performance optimization skills
Strong communication and technical mentorship abilities
Preferred
VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
Experience with backup, recovery, and high availability in virtual platforms
Familiarity with enterprise-grade virtual storage, SAN, and hyperconverged hardware
Proven history in automation and IaC within virtual environments
