Electronic Technician Senior or Electronic Technician

Responsibilities
Perform highly technical work constructing, repairing, and maintaining traffic related electronic equipment under general supervision
Installing, repairing, maintaining, and operating traffic control devices so that devices will operate in the field efficiently and effectively
Repairing, maintaining, and modifying signal cabinets to specifications
Performing preliminary checkout procedures to signal cabinets and traffic related electronic equipment
Testing bench equipment to assure proper operation during maintenance and repair procedures
Responding to repair calls or replace of equipment in the field
Installing, repairing, and maintaining telecommunication systems and equipment so that communications are maintained, and equipment is functional
Qualification
Required
Registered Unlicensed Power Limited Technician license or obtain license within the probationary period
Completion of a two-year vocational/technical program in Electronics Technology (e.g., associate in applied science degree or Electronic Technician diploma) or equivalent within the last ten years, OR equivalent experience as described in the bullets below:
Experience applying standard practices and procedures used in the repair, installation, and maintenance of electronic equipment sufficient to ensure diagnosis, repair, and operational efficiency of such equipment. This must include the ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics
Experience operating electronic tools, testing and measuring devices sufficient to perform electronic equipment repair and maintenance, and calibrate equipment
Ability to understand and follow oral and written direction sufficient to carry out electronic equipment installation, maintenance, and repair
Experience with Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, Project, Visio, and PowerPoint
Experience performing advanced, specialized repair, maintenance, and construction of electronic equipment; perform acceptance testing of equipment; and design and recommend new equipment and parts as needed
Ability to perform layout and design of electronic systems
Ability to lead the work of other technicians in the provision of repair and maintenance of electronic equipment to meet training and work direction needs, to ensure safety, provide timely service and identify problems
Possession of valid class D driver's license
Preferred
Possess a Power Limited Technician License from the MN Department of Labor & Industry
