Engineering Manager
W.E. Hoban Company is a premier custom forging and standard steel forging manufacturer that has been established for over 100 years. The Engineering Manager is responsible for driving engineering excellence across all manufacturing facilities and processes, ensuring that manufacturing processes are clearly defined and documented, while implementing process improvements and achieving cost reduction goals.
Responsibilities
Provide leadership and direction to team members, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and company priorities
Oversee daily workflows by assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and optimizing the use of resources to meet production or departmental objectives
Support employees by offering coaching, constructive feedback, and recognition of strong performance
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to promote employee development, address concerns, and encourage career growth
Identify training needs and partner with Human Resources for ongoing development opportunities
Participate in the recruitment process, including reviewing resumes, interviewing candidates, and supporting hiring decisions in collaboration with Human Resources
Conduct performance evaluations annually and guide employees in setting and achieving SMART goals as applicable
Partner with Human Resources on employee relations and disciplinary matters to ensure consistency with company policies
Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration within the team
Perform initial and ongoing design reviews both internally and externally
Submit a scope of work for each project that identifies budgetary numbers and the goal of each project
Review processes to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness
Work with Operations Manager and Quality Manager in resolving quality issues
Identify and participate in ISO / IATF related activities
Develop and support systems and procedures to monitor and manage the quality of performance of outside vendors
Consistently maintain audit readiness through basic applications of process requirements
Provide leadership to establish and monitor customer/supplier relations, strategic planning and develop initiatives and measurements to determine organizational improvement
Qualification
Required
Proficient in 3D modeling and Programming software
Thorough understanding of CNC tooling and metals
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong supervisory skills
Strong written and verbal communication
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering required
At least 1-2 years of supervisory experience required
Preferred
3-5 years Mechanical Engineer experience preferred
Experience with ISO 9001 and IATF Quality standards and certifications preferred
Software experience in Solid Works and Auto Cad preferred
Experience and knowledge of the forging process preferred
