This role focuses on designing, securing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise-level Hyper-V environments in highly regulated and mission-critical settings.

Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and maintain Hyper-V environments
Build and manage host clusters, virtual machines, and templates
Perform VM lifecycle management (creation, replication, checkpoints, performance tuning)
Configure and support Failover Clusters (CSV, SMB 3.0, SOFS)
Optimize live migration, quorum settings, and cluster performance
Support disaster recovery and failover testing
Design and manage virtual networking (VLANs, NIC teaming, QoS, NVGRE/VXLAN)
Work with SAN/NAS/iSCSI storage, MPIO, and storage performance tuning
Apply DoD STIGs, DISA security baselines, and system hardening
Integrate Hyper-V with Active Directory, GPOs, PKI, RBAC
Support RMF audits, compliance documentation, and accreditation
Automate tasks using PowerShell (scripts, DSC, modules)
Troubleshoot compute, network, and storage issues
Use tools like Performance Monitor, ETW, Windows Admin Center
Create runbooks, diagrams, and technical documentation
Work closely with cybersecurity teams, network engineers, and DoD stakeholders

Required

5+ years of experience with Hyper-V virtualization
Strong experience with Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022
U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain DoD Security Clearance

Preferred

Experience with SCVMM
Azure / Azure Stack HCI
Windows Admin Center
Storage Spaces Direct (S2D)
Prior experience in DoD or defense environments
Microsoft Azure Administrator / Solutions Architect
Security+ CE, CASP+, CySA+
MCSA / MCSE
Virtualization certifications (VCP, etc.)
