Electrical Project Engineer Intern (32270)

Responsibilities

Assist in project budget development, tracking, and analysis for Special Projects initiatives
Support profitability analysis and reporting for ongoing projects and programs
Learn and apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to track project performance metrics
Collaborate with project managers and finance teams to gather data and prepare analytical reports
Help develop financial models and forecasts to support strategic decision-making
Participate in job site visits (minimum 1-2 throughout the summer) to gain exposure to field operations and understand how financial decisions impact project execution
Navigate the IMS facility safely and participate in site tours as required
Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during all site visits and field activities
Participate in special projects and ad-hoc analyses as business needs arise
Maintain and update project tracking databases and financial spreadsheets
Conduct research on industry best practices related to project controls and financial management
Prepare presentations and reports for leadership review
Provide general support to the Special Projects team in day-to-day activities
Performs other duties as needed to support projects, operations, and the department

Required

High school diploma required
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field
Basic understanding of financial principles and business operations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new environments and challenges
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Interest in the construction industry and project-based business models
Ability to follow safety protocols and wear required PPE in field environments
Willingness to participate in site visits and navigate industrial/construction settings safely

Preferred

Preference for candidates committed to a multi-summer internship program
Familiarity with financial software and tools (e.g., Excel, ERP systems) is a plus
