Responsibilities
Design, install, configure, and support Apache Tomcat in complex production environments
Manage Tomcat builds, deployments, upgrades, and patching
Tune JVM performance (memory, thread pools, connectors) for optimal service levels
Deploy Tomcat applications on RedHat OpenShift container platform
Create DNS URLs, manage CNAME records, and coordinate load balancer (LB) requests
Configure Chef JSON files and automation processes
Manage Autosys jobs for server auto-reboots (weekly/monthly scheduling)
Support Y8 certificate creation for DB2
Ensure PROD servers are in Break Glass mode before go-live
Collaborate with DevOps, networking, and infrastructure teams
Participate in rotational support including night shift coverage
Qualification
Required
6+ years of middleware experience with specialization in Apache Tomcat build and support
Strong experience with Tomcat administration in Linux environments
Hands-on experience deploying applications in RedHat OpenShift
Knowledge of DNS configuration and load balancer coordination
Experience with Chef, Autosys, and production automation
Strong troubleshooting skills in clustered production environments
Understanding of JVM tuning and performance optimization
Familiarity with integrating Tomcat with NGINX or Apache HTTPd
Preferred
Experience supporting DB2 environments
Experience working in enterprise production environments
Strong scripting/automation background
