Comptroller - Customer Service Representative (Corpus Christi)
The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts is seeking a Customer Service Representative to join their Enforcement division. This role involves performing funds control functions, responding to public inquiries, and maintaining filing systems while ensuring confidentiality in handling taxpayer records.

Responsibilities
Performs cashier-related tasks
Receives cash and non-cash payments from taxpayers
Enters payment information into an automated system and prepares daily deposits of cash and non-cash payments
Assists visitors in a professional manner
Handles, responds to and routes incoming telephone calls in a timely and accurate manner
Distributes messages to the appropriate individuals, adhering to the agency’s standards and protocols
Receives, distributes, and date stamps incoming mail and maintains mail logs
Prepares outgoing mail and maintains postage balances
Prepares and distributes correspondence and monthly reports
Reviews and updates files
Establishes and maintains a filing system
Assists staff with travel arrangements and verifies travel expense reports for select office staff
Faxes approved freezes, levies, and releases; documents freeze responses and undeliverable mail; and reviews office staff mandatory agency and divisional training records
Updates division and agency databases to reflect various collections work, file maintenance, and account statuses
Conducts new hire orientation for employees regarding field office practices
Monitors inventory and orders supplies and forms
Maintains office equipment and makes repair requests
Maintains records retention schedule
Conducts canvassing research and prepares canvassing information and materials
May process sales tax applications and tax reports and may issue bond demands
May train others on office cashier functions
May prepare and mail statements of account to taxpayers
Performs other work-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of the General Educational Development test (GED)
2 years of experience performing clerical office and/or administrative support work
2 years of experience using Microsoft Word and Excel
2 years of experience using a multi-line telephone
A valid Texas (or state of residency) driver's license and a satisfactory driving record are a condition of employment. Applicants offered an interview must present the following documents at or before the interview: A state issued driving record for the last 36 months; valid Texas driver's license (or state of residency driver's license); and current proof of automobile insurance
Preferred
1 year experience handling cash and non-cash transactions
1 year experience preparing bank deposits for a business
