SNY is offering a Technical Operations Internship that provides undergraduate students hands-on experience in multi-platform technical areas of Broadcast Operations. The intern will assist the Director of Studio Production and Tech Managers in daily operations within studio/control room environments.

Responsibilities

Assist in accomplishing the responsibilities of “on-air” technical operations

Observe and learn specific duties connected to various types of equipment systems

Shadow staff and freelance employees as they operate those various systems

Learn to support and perform other daily related duties at SNY as needed

Required

Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution throughout the internship

Current class standing of rising junior or above

Applicants should demonstrate relevant competencies and capabilities aligned with the role

Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by SNY

Preferably pursuing a bachelor's degree majoring in Media or Television Production

College level production courses utilizing: Video switchers, audio consoles, digital playback systems as well as pedestal camera use and understanding shot composition is a must

Self-motivated individual with a passion for broadcasting, who is capable of multitasking and functioning in a fast-paced, high volume environment

Solid verbal communication skills

Strong aptitude and hands-on experience in broadcast equipment systems and problem-solving

Desire to learn new digital technologies

Preferred

Experience with non-linear newsroom systems (EMPS/iNews) a plus
