Safety Training Specialist

Responsibilities
Work directly with the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Manager and with both internal and external Safety and Health professionals to remain current on the latest Safety and Health initiatives and best practices
Serve as an advocate, advisor, and consultant to all employees and safety teams
Serve as a leader for safety and industrial hygiene initiatives, related technical assistance and regulatory compliance support for the plant
Manage FRA and DOT compliance records for the site
Support other facets of the SHE Department as appropriate (Environmental, Responsible Care, Property Conservation, Sustainability, etc.)
Work with plant supervision on area specific training needs
Develop and continually update training as need to keep workforce engaged and informed on the latest regulatory, and best practices in the industry
Design, plan, organize, or direct orientation and training programs for employees
Collaborates with operations and maintenance departments to develop solutions to safety issues and encourage continuous improvement of safety systems
Engages with all employees to promote safety and exhibits safety behaviors in keeping with Ingevity’s Zero Harm Behavior Standard
Assists with investigation of industrial accidents, injuries, and near miss events to determine root cause and corrective and preventive measures
Assist in the continuous improvement of the Ingevity Safety Management System by participating in corporate collaborations, special teams, and safety audits
Perform routine safety contacts, attend and present safety topics at safety meetings
Conducts training as necessary to ensure appropriate understanding of operational stewardship, process safety, process safety metrics and process safety incidents
Lead initiatives for projects related to process safety / operational stewardship improvement
Ability to work at all levels utilizing a 'hands on' approach to creating value and buy-in as the lead change facilitator for continuous process improvements
Qualification
Required
Minimum 5 years working in a Training or Safety role
Able to work in a team-oriented atmosphere as well as independently as projects warrant
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent communication, consensus building, and interpersonal skills are required
Successful candidate must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and be flexible to changing priorities based on business and facility needs
Must be able to work in an office environment, outside, and in an industrial setting
Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching, and instruction for individuals, groups and measurement of training efforts
Preferred
Additional experience in other regulatory application preferred (OSHA 1910, 1926, NFPA, DOT)
