Airport Apprenticeship Training Supervisor

Responsibilities

Interpret classroom curriculum and identify opportunities that allow apprentices to learn how to use the tools, equipment, technology, and techniques necessary to perform the tasks required of the job
Create opportunities to apply the learned skill or use current work orders for the hands-on experience
Instructs apprentices in the selection and correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in the respective trade and specific task
Collaborate with others to develop teaching and training aids to accompany hands-on work by creating visual aids, providing work assignments, and providing lists of resources such as apps or educational websites
Create and administer performance evaluations that allow objective evaluation to effectively determine the success of the applied knowledge and the progress of the apprentices and determine which instructional areas need further teaching by the ATC Instructors
Meet with apprentices, supervisors, the DOA Program Management Officer and organization leadership to discuss apprentices’ progress, address concerns, answer questions and provide constructive feedback monthly
Maintain On-The-Job learning apprentice records to include skills mastered as indicated on the job description and from the RTI curriculum, behavioral reports, and contact information for them and their supervisors. Reports due monthly to the Program Management Officer and supervisor
Advise apprentices on career decisions, including providing guidance and suggestions regarding future coursework, possible specializations and other career-related topics
Drives performance, productivity and accountability through measurable, results oriented performance metrics
Attend training sessions, conferences, and seminars to further your own education regarding technological and procedural changes in your field so that you can provide the information to your apprentices
Coordinate with weekly Facilities Maintenance Leaders for work orders that apprentices can perform to reinforce learning and maintain Facilities Maintenance production and performance
Promote and emphasize environmental responsibility and sustainability when instructing apprentices and performing work orders
Communicate with Program Management Officer and/or Directors the need for additional tools and training materials
Recommend improvements to the Assistant General Manager for training modifications to keep material congruent with technology advances and building codes changes

Required

5 years plus experience in one of the Building Trades (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing and welding)
Certification and/or licensure in the respective trade or a combination of education and training equivalent to journeyperson level mastery
5 years of experience in commercial/industrial facility maintenance, or similar area
5 years working in a supervisory or team leader role in facility maintenance
3 years of experience instructing or training other workers to perform troubleshooting, repair and installation building systems components
Valid driver's license is required
Ability to acquire and maintain DOA security clearance badge required
AMA existing or within 3 months of hire required

Preferred

Strong working knowledge of computers and a variety of software including MS word, Excel, PowerPoint, and computer maintenance management systems (CMMS) applications; knowledge of construction documents and design for utility and airport support systems
Preferred certifications: Facility Management Professional (FMP), Certified Facility Manager (CFM)
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred
