Responsibilities

Deliver client-focused, legal research services for attorneys and paralegals, ensuring they receive timely, accurate, and actionable information that supports litigation, transactional work, and other legal matters
Utilize the collective Research Distribution list to assign requests to themselves, considering their expertise, skills, previous experience, and current workload
Carefully assess requests to determine cost-effective, efficient, and accurate research strategies, utilizing the most appropriate tools and processes to deliver high-quality results
Support the transformation of library research services by integrating advanced technologies, AI-driven tools, and process improvement to better both the quality and speed of legal research services
Support a client-centric research model that emphasizes responsiveness and high-quality output, ensuring that attorneys and paralegals consistently receive best-in-class research support tailored to specific client needs
Coordinate CNS reports and dingers information in accordance with the established attorney onboarding process
Support the implementation of a comprehensive competitive and client intelligence strategy to identify market trends, emerging legal opportunities, and competitor activities that inform the firm’s strategic goals
Collaborate with practice groups, business development, and senior leadership to deliver actionable insights that help drive business development and operational decision-making
Collaborate with Recruiting to support the evaluation of geographic growth markets in alignment with firm objectives
Support the development of a robust CI framework, ensuring timely, relevant, and high-quality reporting on competitive landscapes, regulatory changes, and industry trends to enhance firm strategy and client service
Oversee Westlaw administrative tasks, including monitoring usage reports, and reviewing and resolving non-billable or out-of-contract charges
Continuously support the assessment of the legal research landscape to identify new tools, platforms, and technologies that can enhance service delivery and operational efficiency
Monitor personnel changes to ensure access to research tools is promptly removed following departures. Conduct audits of existing tools to ensure compliance
Conduct regular audits of the Research Services intranet page to ensure the accuracy and relevance of current service offerings
Pursue ongoing professional growth to refine skillsets, including gaining proficiency in emerging technologies, methodologies, and best practices in legal research and competitive intelligence
Foster a collaborative environment that encourages continuous learning, innovation, and the pursuit of excellence
Play an active role in developing new strategies and enhancing the firm’s overall research capabilities
Remain current on technological enhancements that contribute toward providing sophisticated research services; participate in testing and evaluating new research tools
Work closely with practice groups, business development, recruiting, and client relationship teams to provide research support for client opportunities, growth assessment, strategic planning, and client-facing projects
Foster cross-functional collaboration to ensure that research and competitive intelligence are integrated into key decision-making processes across the firm
Communicate research findings, market intelligence, and insights to diverse audiences, including attorneys, partners, and senior management, in a clear and actionable manner

Required

Master's degree in research, library or information sciences, or a relevant field; advanced degree preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal research, competitive intelligence, and/or knowledge management within a law firm or similar professional services environment
Proven expertise in managing research tasks independently, driving technological change, and supporting innovative research solutions
Familiarity with cutting-edge legal research technologies, including AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics
Strong project management skills with a focus on delivering results in a fast-paced, client-driven environment
Positive approach to team collaboration and goodwill ambassador for the Research Services department when working with attorneys, practice groups and other firm administrative departments
Solid organizational, analytical and communication skills, with the ability to multitask and re-prioritize as necessary to meet competing deadlines, collaborate effectively across multiple teams, and present complex findings in a clear, actionable format
