Responsibilities
Conduct site assessments, surveys, and habitat evaluations for common and special-status plant and wildlife species and map vegetation communities
Conduct wetland delineations pursuant to federal and state requirements
Record and take notes on a mobile device
Follow all Dudek and project site safety protocols
Hike long distances in potentially inclement weather, heat, and rough terrain
Apply a high level of attention to detail and work independently and as a part of a team
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in biology, environmental science, or other related field; OR a minimum of 1-3 years demonstrated field experience in biological resource management and surveying
Knowledge of and ability to identify Oregon and Washington wildlife and/or plant species
Must possess a valid driver's license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by the first day of employment
Preferred
2-6+ years of experience in environmental field settings in Oregon and Washington
Understanding of and familiarity with environmental regulations and permits
Strong botanical knowledge including experience identifying common and rare plant species and/or using dichotomous keys to identify Pacific Northwest plants
Experience executing species-specific survey protocols, e.g., marbled murrelet, western toad, northern spotted owl, northwestern pond turtle
4-wheel-drive experience
Professional Wetland Scientists (PWS) or Wetland Professionals in Training (WPIT), are preferred
