FSQA Supervisor

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with USDA-FSIS regulations under 9 CFR, including slaughter, HACCP, and sanitation requirements, and act as the primary point of contact for USDA-FSIS inspection personnel during daily operations in the assigned area(s)
Oversee implementation and monitoring of the HACCP plan for their area(s) of responsibility and ensure that corrective action and pre-shipment review activities are completed as required
Assist with HACCP reassessments due to process changes, deviations, regulatory findings, and annual program reviews and conduct validation activities for HACCP critical control points and pre-requisite programs
Monitor Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) in assigned area(s) including pre-operational and operational sanitation activities. Review and verify monitoring records and corrective actions for SSOP findings
Oversee product quality auditing, carcass sorting activities, and other in-process inspections in assigned area(s) to ensure compliance with internal specifications and customer requirements
Make product disposition decisions including rework, product holds, and condemnations when deficiencies are identified and complete root cause investigations when there are quality or food safety product integrity concerns
Assist the FSQA manager in the implementation and training of all production professionals, plant management, and FSQA Auditors on food safety and quality programs related to their job functions
Supervise, coach, and develop FSQA Auditors in assigned area(s) to ensure completion of daily tasks and monitoring activities related to food safety and quality programs
Conduct periodic review and recaps of data for internal and external stakeholders related to food safety programs, quality performance, and regulatory compliance and communicate issues or trends to plant leadership
Complete reviews of FSQA documentation and electronic records at required frequency
Support internal, customer, and third-party audits including preparation and implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions
Promote a strong food safety culture throughout the facility

Required

5+ years of experience, or a combination thereof, in agricultural sciences, biology, chemistry, engineering, and food manufacturing; or 2+ years of education in a Bachelor's program related to previous disciplines and 2+ years of job experience in a food production facility under a food safety program (SQF, HACCP, or USDA regulation)
Verifiable certifications in Food Safety
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
Strong communication skills, verbal and written
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English and Spanish
Ability to analyze and interpret data from a variety of sources
Ability to function independently and apply common sense and judgment in solving problems and interpreting and understanding instructions furnished in written or oral form given assigned duties
Ability to motivate, train, and coach employees to encourage optimum performance and engagement
Strong mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, ratios and percentages, among others
Ability to communicate, work, and interact with a variety of individuals
Ability to work in varying production environments (heat and cold)
Ability to provide leadership and guidance to employees on the Production Floor

Preferred

Lab experience
Prior supervisory experience
Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish)
Computer knowledge in MS Office, Safety Chain, Oracle, Minitab and Carlisle preferred, along with the ability to learn new software
