Data Processing Specialist
State of Tennessee is seeking a Data Processing Specialist to support the Viral Hepatitis Program. The role involves accurately processing and maintaining hepatitis surveillance data, applying case definitions, and ensuring data integrity for public health reporting.
Responsibilities
Process and enter hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) laboratory and case data in NBS (surveillance system)
Review and manage assigned surveillance and document review queues
Apply CDC/CSTE case definitions to determine case status
Identify acute, reinfection, perinatal, infant, and fetal death cases
Perform routine data cleaning and quality assurance
Process paper, electronic, and orphaned laboratory reports
Resolve data discrepancies and incomplete records
Coordinate medical record requests as assigned
Communicate data issues and notable findings to the team leader
Participate in required meetings, training, and team activities
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent required
Ability to accurately enter and maintain confidential health data with strong attention to detail
Ability to follow detailed procedures and meet established data quality and performance standards
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively
Proficiency with basic computer applications and data systems
Preferred
Data entry or data systems experience
Medical or public health knowledge
