Responsibilities
Assemble major structures and perform minor part-fitting operations (filing, sawing, burring, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, reaming)
Align parts on jigs and aerospace vehicles using templates and fixtures
Measure parts using micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions
Modify incomplete or complete assemblies and incorporate structural changes
Monitor and verify quality using statistical process control or other procedures
Ensure compliance with safety-sensitive protocols and aviation standards
Operate or supervise heavy or dangerous equipment and machinery
Inspect structures, equipment, or vehicles for safety and performance
Perform duties in outdoor environments and occasionally around hazardous materials
Qualification
Required
Must own tools in good working condition
Ability to interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and manuals
Experience with structural assembly and minor part fitting techniques
Skilled in installing fasteners such as rivets and hi-locks
Experience in airframe corrosion removal and refinishing
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Typically, 5+ years of relevant experience in aerospace structural work
A higher-level degree may substitute for experience
Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
Preferred
Willingness and ability to travel
Background in Aerospace & Defense, DoD, NASA, or U.S. Military
Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance (if required)
