IS&T Security Engineer 2
Massachusetts Institute of Technology is seeking an IT Security Engineer to serve as a subject matter expert and final escalation point for cybersecurity events. The role involves investigating, diagnosing, and resolving complex security issues to protect the Institute’s digital infrastructure.

Independently investigate, diagnose, and resolve sophisticated security issues from phishing and threat analysis to incident response and prevention
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
a minimum of five years of experience in cybersecurity, information systems, or another related field
understanding of email systems
common phishing techniques
experience analyzing raw email headers in text format
understanding of networking concepts such as network segmentation and isolation, routing, client-server communications, ARP, DHCP, TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, HTTP/S, RDP, SSH, FTP, etc
understanding of system administration concepts such as operating system patching and lifecycle, scheduled tasks, administration of services, and common log types such as syslog, json, M365, message trace, IDP logs, and Windows Security Log
Comfortable utilizing a command line on Windows, MacOS, and Linux
familiarity with software engineering and application development concepts such as dlls and shared object libraries, memory allocation and abuse, packaging and dependencies, etc
