Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience building and deploying ML systems in production
2+ years working with large language models and generative AI
Hands-on experience with LLM providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock, or Azure OpenAI
Experience building LLM-powered applications and understanding their trade-offs (quality, cost, latency)
Familiarity with prompt engineering, evaluation, hallucination mitigation, and model iteration
Comfort deciding when LLMs are the right tool versus classical or deterministic approaches
Experience building or working with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems
Understanding of embeddings, vector search, and retrieval optimization
Experience with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma, pgvector, Qdrant)
Background in document understanding, semantic search, or information extraction
Strong Python skills and experience writing production-quality code
Backend development experience with FastAPI, Django, Flask, or similar frameworks
Experience deploying, monitoring, and improving ML systems in production
Familiarity with model versioning, evaluation, and performance monitoring
Exposure to cost optimization and reliability practices for AI systems
Regular use of AI tools to support development and problem-solving
Ability to review AI-generated outputs critically and apply sound engineering judgment
Interest in building repeatable workflows or internal tools that improve team productivity
Ability to design scalable, AI-first systems in partnership with product and engineering teams
Clear communicator who can explain technical trade-offs to non-ML stakeholders
Interest in mentoring teammates and contributing to shared engineering standards
Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent practical background
Proven experience delivering AI/ML systems that created meaningful business impact
