Nuclear Plant Civil/Structural Engineer
Confidenxial is involved in nuclear energy projects, and they are seeking a Senior Civil Structural Engineer to support new nuclear plant engineering projects. The role involves leading civil and structural engineering design activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and collaborating with various stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Responsibilities
Perform civil and structural engineering design activities supporting new nuclear plant projects
Lead design, analysis, and verification of nuclear safety-related structures
Conduct static and dynamic structural analyses, including reinforced concrete, structural steel, and composite structures
Develop system design specifications, calculations, and engineering reports
Perform design and analysis in accordance with ASME B&PV Section III Division 2, AISC N690, and ACI 349 codes
Analyze thermal stresses in reactor containment structures and resolve over-stress conditions
Define hydrodynamic loads and support dynamic response analysis of containment structures
Develop drawings and specifications to meet engineering, quality, and regulatory requirements
Prepare licensing documentation and technical reports for regulatory submittals
Interface with internal stakeholders, suppliers, partners, and domestic and international regulatory authorities
Support existing BWR product lines through process approvals, qualifications, and nonconformance resolution
Ensure on-time, high-quality delivery of engineering documentation and equipment packages
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Civil or Structural preferred)
Minimum of 8 years of experience in the energy industry (nuclear preferred) or a comparable technical environment
Minimum of 3 years of experience in nuclear power plant Balance of Plant (BOP) and/or Turbine Island (TI) design or operations
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a program or technical leadership role
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with customers, regulators, and suppliers
Ability to comply with applicable regulatory, export control, and security requirements associated with nuclear projects
Availability to work standard business hours, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week
Strong expertise in civil and structural design for nuclear facilities
Proficiency in reinforced concrete, structural steel, and composite structure design
Advanced knowledge of nuclear codes and standards including ASME, AISC, ACI, ASCE, and AWS
Ability to perform complex structural calculations and engineering evaluations
Experience developing engineering reports, specifications, and licensing documentation
Strong understanding of BWR plant systems and nuclear safety-related structures
Proficiency in interpreting regulatory requirements and applying them to engineering designs
Excellent technical communication skills for interaction with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and regulatory compliance
Ability to manage multiple engineering deliverables and meet project schedules
Preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) license in one or more states or P.Eng designation
Master's or PhD in Civil Engineering
Experience with nuclear power plant construction projects
Knowledge of steel plate composite structures
Familiarity with BWR Balance of Plant (BOP), Turbine Island (TI), and HVAC systems
Understanding of nuclear business processes, products, and customer requirements
Experience supporting modularization and fabrication of nuclear structures
