Responsibilities

Serve as lead engineer for mid- to large-scale municipal traffic engineering and active transportation projects
Provide specialized technical oversight for traffic studies, safety analysis, signal design, signing and pavement marking, grade crossing evaluations, and multimodal planning efforts
Present complex technical findings and recommendations to municipal clients, councils, MPO boards, and other stakeholders
Perform quality control reviews of plans, specifications, and technical deliverables; approve and sign off on engineering work as required
Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans throughout the full project lifecycle
Prepare technical scopes of work, fee proposals, and engineering cost estimates
Support business development efforts, including pursuit strategy, client relationship management, and municipal account growth
Coordinate with MPOs, transit agencies, regional planning organizations, and other public-sector stakeholders
Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance to traffic engineering teams
Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local transportation standards and safety regulations

Required

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field, plus 8 years of relevant traffic engineering experience, or demonstrated equivalency of education and experience
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Preferred

12+ years of related traffic engineering experience
Direct experience working with municipal agencies, including city and county transportation departments
Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Texas, or ability to obtain within six months of hire
RSP (Road Safety Professional) certification
Demonstrated success in business development, municipal client relationship management, and pursuit of transportation projects
Proficiency with traffic engineering and modeling software such as MicroStation, SignCAD, Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, HCS, or similar tools
Experience with active transportation planning and design, safety analysis, and highway-rail grade crossing projects
Experience managing engineering design and/or planning projects from concept through construction support
Experience developing municipal business development strategies and preparing scopes, budgets, and proposals
Active participation in professional engineering organizations
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated client-facing experience
