Biomed Equipment Tech III
Tucson Medical Center is seeking a Biomed Equipment Tech III who performs advanced level work in the installation, calibration, inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair of biomedical equipment. Responsibilities
Analyzes electronic equipment for causes of failure; isolates, tests, and replaces defective parts
Uses available test equipment to test functioning problems and repair medical devices
Works with equipment manufacturers on repair work and orders parts needed for equipment maintenance
Performs preventive maintenance inspection and electrical safety testing and corrects problems
Makes necessary operational adjustments to electronic equipment and take sensitivity, selectivity, and accuracy measurements
Provides engineering and technical counsel on codes and standards, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment in clinical and non-clinical areas; establishes appropriate safety standards
Provides correct, precise, and timely documentation of maintenance actions performed including documentation required by regulatory agencies
Participates in in-service training of new technicians and nursing staff concerning use and operation of medical/biomedical equipment; may supervise other staff
Adheres to and supports team members in exhibiting TMCH values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication
Adheres to TMCH organizational and department-specific safety and confidentiality policies and standards
Performs related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
An Associate of the Applied Sciences Degree in Electronics Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
Eight (8) years of experience as a Biomedical Technician
Training certification from manufacturers or an acceptable third-party equipment maintenance organization strongly preferred
CBET Preferred
Knowledge of the best practices for the
Skill in performing preventative maintenance and repairs to a variety of mechanical and electrical biomedical equipment
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence
Ability to listen and accurately interpret others' communication or instructions to take appropriate action
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs; ability to apply basic algebraic concepts
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
