Electrical Apprentice
The City of Battle Creek is seeking an Electrical Apprentice to assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical devices and equipment. The role involves training under the mentorship of experienced Electricians while performing various electrical tasks and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair a wide variety of electrical equipment and devices
Install, maintain, and repair motors; controls; electrical wiring; and components up to 8.3kV, single and three phase
Troubleshoot electrical problems
Perform simple and complex electrical and electronic tests
Select electrical components and design simple electrical circuits
Maintain records and prepare written reports and recommendations on electrical equipment and controls
Perform troubleshooting tasks on electronic controls and components
Install and maintain electronic devices
Perform complex troubleshooting tasks on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and combined motor control and alarm systems
Troubleshoot, maintain, install, and repair variable speed motor controllers and Programmable Logic Controllers
Layout, cut, bend, threads, assembles and install conduit
Soldering and electronic assembly of electronic components
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Valid driver's license in the State of Michigan with a valid DOT Medical Card upon hire
Complete 8000 hours of training under the City of Battle Creek's Apprenticeship program over five years
Complete 576 hours of formal education under the City of Battle Creek's Apprenticeship program over five years
Hold an active Apprenticeship Card through the State of Michigan
Pass State of Michigan Journeyman's test at the successful completion of the City of Battle Creek's Apprenticeship program to become a City of Battle Creek Electrical Journeyman
