As a Summer Application Developer Intern, you will build a Python-based analytic application to benchmark and improve part lifetimes across Applied global equipment fleets, supporting data-driven decision-making and service optimization.

Responsibilities

Design and implement logic to identify base parts and interchangeable parts using lineage, correlation and historical mapping data

Develop filtering and selection rules to determine valid analysis candidates (contract type, tool type, application, etc.)

Extract part transaction records of valid candidates from Applied internal data source

Process part transactions and compute average part lifetime by usage metrics (orders, modules, period, etc.)

Perform benchmarking across contracts, tools, and applications to generate statistical insights

Build a clear and user-friendly input configuration and output reporting interface

Create useful visualizations, summary tables, and automated reports

Validate application outputs against known data and engineering expectations

Propose enhancements to logic, workflow, and application functions

Provide ideas for how the tool can be integrated into future production systems

Required

Strong Python programming skill

Basic knowledge of Excel and Tableau

Experience of applying Python to real-world applications is a plus

Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities

Familiarity with databases and data modeling concepts

Understanding of statistical concepts

Education: Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related STEM fields

Preferred

Knowledge of semiconductor equipment or manufacturing is a plus
