PATHWAYS INTERN STUDENT TRAINEE (LEGAL) - Office of Inspector General
The GSA is seeking motivated law students for the Pathways Intern Program in the Office of Counsel, located in Washington, DC. Interns will perform legal research, review subpoenas, and assist in drafting legal memoranda, gaining valuable experience in government contracting, fiscal law, and employment law.

Responsibilities
Performs legal research in support of mission
Reviews subpoenas for legal compliance
Briefs senior officials orally and in writing on projects assigned
Tracks and inputs legal documents using a case management system; and
Writes or assists in drafting legal memoranda
Qualification
Required
US Citizenship or National (Residents of American Samoa and Swains Island)
Register with the Selective Service if you are a male born after 12/31/1959
Direct Deposit of salary check to financial organization required
Provide an up-to-date official transcript prior to entry on duty, for verification of course completion, academic standing, and proof of continued academic enrollment
Have completed at least one year of law school by the summer intern program start date
Undergo and pass a background investigation (Tier 1 investigation level)
Have your identity and work status eligibility verified if you are not a GSA OIG employee
Serve in a trial period for the entire duration of the internship appointment
Complete a financial disclosure report to verify that no conflict, or an appearance of conflict, exists between your financial interest and this position
Signed participant agreement is required for employment under this Program
Work full-time for a period of at least 8 weeks but no more than 10 weeks between May 2026 through September 2026
Qualification requirements must be met prior to entry on duty
You are required to submit unofficial transcripts with your application
To qualify for GS-9, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level or higher in the Federal service
To qualify for GS-7, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level or higher in the Federal service
Completion of 2 academic years of graduate level education, or a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree qualifies for GS-9
Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education qualifies for GS-7
Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelor's degree qualifies for GS-7
To claim Superior Academic Achievement, submit documentation of class standing, grade-point average, or election to membership in a national scholastic honor society
