Software Engineer, Operations Research, Research

The Software Engineer in Operations Research will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions while managing project priorities and collaborating with various teams to optimize operations research technologies.

Responsibilities
Write and test product or system development code
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency)
Contribute to the development of operations research technologies and their applications, as for instance our collaboration with with AI2, cloud supply chain and operations and product areas, in particular designing and implementing capacity planning solvers to automate and optimize cloud, machine learning, and product areas orders (macks, machines, TPUs, network, data centers)
Collaborate with various teams within Alphabet to make the best use of optimization and to support the creation of new products with underlying combinatorial problems
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages
5 years of experience with software development C++
3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture
Experience applying operations research methodologies to design and optimize large-scale production systems
Preferred
Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field
5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms
Experience developing accessible technologies
Experience building and architecting production quality Machine Learning (ML) systems
