Data/Splunk Engineer - TS/SCI with FS Poly | NoVA
Optiv Federal Inc. is seeking a proactive and self-motivated Data/Splunk Engineer responsible for executing routine tasks and ensuring adherence to project timelines. The role involves maintaining certifications, providing technical support, and collaborating with clients and senior engineers to deliver high-quality engagement outcomes.

Responsibilities
Spend 5% of their time focusing on sales and client engagement
Spend 10% of their time focusing on training and talent development
Spend 85% of their time on engagement delivery
Execute all tasks outlined in the scope of work and follow standard operating procedures with minimal oversight
Work with clients to analyze and understand their needs and objectives
Collaborate with senior engineers on more complex engagements
Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to clients during and after project implementation
Escalate complex issues to the appropriate teams or engineers as necessary
Document project progress, issues, and resolutions in a concise and timely manner
Consistently self-review work to identify and improve approaches for producing high-quality work
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction
Adhere to availability standards for responding to client inquiries
Communicate technical concepts effectively to clients
Identify and communicate cross-sell and up-sell opportunities with the account team across services
Demonstrate proactive engagement in obtaining and maintaining certifications and cultivating technical proficiency in accordance with industry standards
Provide input to leadership on needed training and development
Proactively engage with mentors for assistance and guidance as necessary
Shadow colleagues and actively participate in practical exercises within the company’s lab while not assigned to an engagement
Qualification
Required
Currently holds a Top Secret clearance – TS/SCI with a full-scope poly
Experience operating in classified environments
Understanding of SIEM, cybersecurity, and infrastructure concepts
Experience integrating diverse data streams
Experience with data transfer tools (Ex: NiFi, Cribl, etc)
Experience in analyzing complex networks and systems
Experience in analyzing log data from various network components and operating systems
Knowledge of complex environments involving shared networks and multiple security enclaves
Ability to manage and troubleshoot data feeds
Splunk familiarization
Python familiarization
Proficiency in SQL and experience with various database management systems
Public, private and hybrid Cloud experience
Understanding of governance and compliance, specifically with FAR, DFARs, CUI and CMMC
Understanding of FedRAMP and IL constructs
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team
Ability to clearly communicate complex messages to a variety of audiences
Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
Willingness to travel to meet client needs
