Responsibilities
Utilize AutoCAD, Inventor 3D CAD, and/or hand drafting techniques to update existing drawings and develop preliminary and final drawings in accordance with industry drafting standards
Create and maintain plant utility system layouts including mechanical, packaging, electrical, piping, HVAC, civil, structural, and control system drawings
Develop and update process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), equipment arrangements, mechanical assemblies, tooling drawings, electrical schematics, and installation drawings
Maintain drawing file management systems (e.g., Autodesk Vault) and support change management processes within configuration management systems
Process new drawings and engineering changes through formal change request systems to support manufacturing priorities
Assist Manufacturing Engineers in developing equipment layouts, installation instructions, and modifications to existing equipment and utilities
Extract and format CAD models/drawings into Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, etc.) for design reviews, manuals, procedures, and documentation
Serve as a drawing quality expert ensuring compliance with applicable drafting standards
Support continuous improvement initiatives and upgrades of manufacturing processes
Lead low-risk projects with minimal resource requirements when applicable
Qualification
Required
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Design, or a closely related field
Hands-on experience using Autodesk tools (Inventor, AutoCAD, Vault) or equivalent CAD software
Strong understanding of 2D and 3D CAD modeling and drafting principles
Ability to use computers extensively and work within configuration/change management systems
Ability to meet site safety requirements, including wearing protective clothing and respirator when required
Physical ability to walk stairs frequently, climb ladders occasionally, and perform tasks such as crawling, kneeling, crouching, and reaching around manufacturing equipment
Must be 18 years or older and legally authorized to work in the United States
Ability to successfully complete background investigation and drug screening
Willingness to relocate to Wilmington, NC (if not currently local)
Preferred
Advanced mechanical/mechanism design experience
Strong proficiency in Inventor, AutoCAD, and Vault within a mechanical engineering environment
Ability to create detailed drawings from 2D and 3D parametric models
Functional knowledge of ASME/ANSI Y14.5M and related drafting standards
Understanding of manufacturing processes, fits, tolerances, and fundamental design principles
Strong ownership mindset with accountability for results
Self-starter with a proactive, positive attitude and collaborative working style
Proven ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
Adaptable and quick learner with strong professional agility
