Responsibilities
Operational Oversight: Manage the daily general ledger activities, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and daily/monthly reconciliations
Month-End Close: Lead and streamline the monthly closing process, ensuring all entries are accurate and deadlines are met within the community banking framework
Audit Support: Serve as a primary point of contact and subject matter expert for the external audit team, preparing workpapers and ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards
Staff Leadership: Provide mentorship and daily oversight to a small, dedicated accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability
Reporting & Analytics: Utilize Power BI and core banking systems to provide clear financial visibility to the Executive Finance Consultant and CFO
Qualification
Required
Proven experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller within a community or regional bank setting
Hands-on experience with Prologue and DNA (Fiserv) core banking systems
Deep understanding of bank-specific reconciliations, call reporting support, and internal controls
Ability to work onsite in Stamford, CT 3-4 days/week
Ability to commit to a 3–6 month project duration, maintaining a standard work week
Preferred
Advanced proficiency in Power BI for financial reporting and dashboarding
CPA designation or MBA is highly preferred
A track record of 'hitting the ground running' in interim roles, specifically during year-end or audit cycles
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with a diverse finance team
