Responsibilities

Develop service disruption and construction-related wayfinding and signage plans for stations, facilities, and right-of-way projects
Develop sign verbiage to clearly and succinctly direct customers to their destinations
Coordinate with Communications team members to ensure signage accurately reflects directional messaging provided in print and online collateral
Coordinate with project managers, contractors, or other MARTA staff to identify signage needs throughout all construction phases
Review construction schedules and phasing plans to ensure signage is updated in real time as conditions change
Participate in pre-construction meetings, site walks, and coordination meetings
Manage production/design, fabrication, delivery, installation, relocation, and removal of temporary and permanent wayfinding signs by coordinating with internal or external print/sign shops, installers, and construction contractors
Ensure signage placement is clear, visible, durable, and safe for customers and employees
Verify compliance with MARTA design standards, ADA, Title VI, and accessibility requirements
Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control on draft and final materials
Conduct field inspections to confirm correct installation and message accuracy with changing project conditions
Track signage inventory, costs, quantities, and schedules; support invoicing and contract compliance as needed
Work closely with customer communications and marketing teams to align physical signage with digital, printed, and service advisory messaging
Anticipate rider confusion points and proactively recommend wayfinding solutions
Respond to customer, operator, and field staff feedback related to signage and navigation
Maintain signage inventories, location maps, and as-built documentation
Track signage changes across project phases and archive lessons learned
Coordinate and lead signage/wayfinding meetings, prepare status reports and briefings for internal stakeholders

Required

Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Graphic Design, Architecture, Construction, Marketing, Communications, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience
Familiarity with construction environments and safety protocols
Working knowledge of ADA accessibility standards and wayfinding best practices
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Computing skills working with MS Word, PowerPoint, and communication and collaboration tools (MS Teams, Sharepoint, etc.)
Excellent organizational, planning, and time-management skills; stickler for meeting deadlines; works well under tight deadlines and stressful situations; agile in responding to requests; able to multi-tasking; creative problem-solver
Comfort with riding unaccompanied on public transit and interacting with customers in a friendly and professional manner
Graphic Design skills in Adobe InDesign, Acrobat Pro, and/or Illustrator
Understanding of CMYK printing and pre-press graphic production
Experience working for or with a public transit agency or transportation authority
Experience reviewing shop drawings and coordinating field installations
Ability to read construction drawings and phasing plans
Ability to conduct regular field visits to active construction sites, MARTA stations and their surrounding areas, and other locations as needed
Occasional evening or weekend work to support service changes or critical construction activities
May require walking long distances, climbing stairs, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Must be able to use a variety of simple hand tools for temporary signage installation, including but not limited to utility knife, pliers, snips, adhesive tape and decals, zip ties, rope, scissors, level, staple gun, hammer and nails, screwdriver and screws
Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on work sites and conform to all MARTA and contractor safety requirements
Stand, walk, stoop, bend, squat, and lift up to 25lbs. throughout an 8-hour work day
Perform duties under adverse weather and adverse climate conditions
Driving as needed to perform job duties
