Responsibilities

Develop complex custom reports based on customer requirements with report writing tools such as Crystal Reports, Business Objects, and SQL
Analyze data and summarize to assist various levels of management in making business decisions
Develop creative solutions to supply data to meet report specifications
Schedule reports for generation and delivery on a regular basis as requested by Patient Financial Services, Accounting and Finance Departments and external vendors
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the various databases available for reporting
Generate monthly Ohio Health Association (OHA) Extract and transmit to OHA
Review errors and perform research to resolve errors to meet required thresholds
Manage any changes to OHA file specifications, working with the Support Vendor to implement and test changes
Manage multiple assignments and meet expected timelines
Analyze requirements from CMS and Ohio Medicaid for annual cost reporting, DSH, Myers & Stauffer and other government requests
Collaborate with Accounting department, Accounting Firm and Revenue Cycle Director to ensure a unified understanding
Develop reports to generate data, performing analysis to determine required elements for accurate reporting
Submit data in requested format by specified deadline
Perform further research and analysis as needed to respond to subsequent questions/audits
Balance HIS to Claims system daily; create and transfer files between Memorial and various vendors for Bad Debt, Extended Business Office, and Statements
Complete reconciliations to ensure that systems remain in sync and to determine root cause of any discrepancies
Monitor return files from vendors to determine next action for accounts returned
Manage Claim System user profiles and creating custom views to ensure proper routing to billing representatives, and create and update custom edits
Assist users with applications, providing instruction and gaining feedback related to system functionality and performance
Set up accounts and reset passwords for internal applications
Write and update necessary work procedures
Assists with system testing and manages technical aspects of Revenue Cycle applications, collaborating with IT and various vendors to design solutions and resolve issues
Monitor system processes daily to ensure scheduled processes complete without error and billing related files are generated and uploaded to downstream systems
Works closely with the Manager of Revenue Cycle to define requirements for system changes to handle new workflows and develop potential solutions
Review release notes to determine impact to Revenue Cycle and summarize changes and expected impact to Manager of Revenue Cycle and Billing Supervisors
Identify the root cause of issues and develop solutions to correct application problems
Actively looks for and creates opportunities to improve department, staff and personal development
Develops and demonstrates knowledge of current developments in field to maintain competency
Utilizes hospital and departmental policies and procedures
Acts as a resource for new employees and precepts as needed

Documentation is completed on a daily basis
Understands the importance of accurate completion of documentation and Hospital accreditation requirements and how it impacts hospital payment and certification programs

Attends all mandatory education and in-services (i.e., team training, safety, infection control, etc.); completes mandatory health requirements
Employee performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s and department’s Ethics and Compliance program and is responsible to detect, observe and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, or upward through the chain of command, the Compliance Officer, or the hospital hotline
Performs other duties as required or assigned

Required

5 years' experience working in a hospital setting
Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Healthcare, Business Administration or related industry training/certification, such as Epic Report Writer, Microsoft applications or demonstrated proficiency with SQL, Business Objects, Data Models, HIS report-writing tools
Must have experience with databases, various reporting tools, and advanced Excel skills
Works independently, able to prioritize projects and associated tasks
Knowledge of operations in a hospital environment and strong communications skills
