Midwest Sales Engineer
Adaptec Solutions is a North American industry leader in automation and material handling system integration, delivering engineered, customer-centric solutions for manufacturing, distribution, and warehousing organizations. The Midwest Sales Engineer will manage the full-cycle technical sales process, including prospecting, designing solutions, and collaborating with internal teams to meet customer needs.
Responsibilities
Build and manage a robust pipeline using customer inquiries, targeted market research, and professional networks
Develop and execute weekly/monthly prospecting and forecasting plans
Sell to technical and business-level decision makers across mid‑to‑large manufacturing organizations
Maintain accurate CRM data on leads, quotes, and orders
Participate in discovery and pre-sale meetings to define customer needs
Create technical and commercial proposals aligned to customer specifications
Conduct technical presentations and proposal clarifications
Manage the quoting process, including estimating, design review, presentation, and acceptance
Partner closely with Applications Engineering, Project Management, Marketing, and Finance
Support handoff, design reviews, and project planning for awarded work
Respond quickly to customers, make site visits, and drive long-term relationship development
Within 6–12 months, establish deep knowledge of the regional install base and identify look‑alike prospects
Attend workshops, trade shows, and marketing events as a technical resource
Maintain awareness of industry trends and competitive landscape
Qualification
Required
Minimum 5 years in selling or developing industrial/engineered solutions, automation, material handling, or related fields
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Technical aptitude with the ability to understand manufacturing processes and conceptual engineering solutions
Experience with quoting, scopes of work, and solution development
Proficiency in MS Office; CRM experience required
Ability to interpret CAD layouts is required; CAD viewing tools a plus
Strong organizational and decision-making skills; ability to prioritize revenue-producing activities
Willingness to travel up to 50%
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred; equivalent experience considered
Will consider candidates with Applications Engineering or Process Engineering background, especially those interested in transitioning into a more external facing sales role
