Recreation and Community Services Coordinator - Toddler & Youth Programs

NEOGOV is seeking a Recreation and Community Services Coordinator to manage toddler and youth programs at the Canyon Country Community Center. Responsibilities

Supervise and lead more than 25 part-time employees, including creating schedules, managing workloads, completing projects, and facilitating professional growth
Work effectively with the staff to implement programs, develop timelines, and direct part-time staff
Plan, coordinate, and implement year-round toddler and youth programming including after-school programs, classes, special presentations, summer/holiday break programs/camps, drop-in activities, events, and family nights
Coordinate after-school programs for youth ages 5-12, including events, life skill workshops, educational opportunities, and volunteer projects
Collaborate with other City staff, volunteers, businesses, and local agency representatives to enhance programming and provide educational & enrichment workshops/presentations for all ages
Assist with tracking trends, survey responses and attendance, to enhance programming and processes to address community needs
Assist with staff meetings and provide feedback to part-time staff on job performance
Monitor program division budget and process invoices
Assist with overseeing and developing program marketing materials, such as brochures, flyers, and other promotional materials
Secure vendors, agencies, presenters for camps and programs; submit vendor contracts in contract system
Conduct safety related trainings and drills
Purchase program supplies, uniforms, and equipment and track budget for all related expenses
Address child discipline issues, as needed
Submit accident and incident reports
Make presentations and provide information on assigned programs and attend local collaborative meetings to gather information about programs and services City-wide
Provide excellent customer service; respond to difficult and complex public inquiries and requests; serve as an information source regarding assigned programs

Required

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Two years of recreation and/or community services experience, preferably in youth and family-focused programming/events, and/or community services programs
A valid Class C California driver license or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation to carry out job-related functions
Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively supervise, train, evaluate and motivate, provide feedback, and coach staff
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify solutions to complex situations by being an innovative and strategic thinker
Make sound decisions in a dynamic/challenging environment, and enforce code of conduct firmly and respectfully with youth who struggle to follow direction
Strong work ethic and the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
Strong project management skills and the ability to design, develop, and implement programs suited to the needs of a diverse population
Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects and program simultaneously, be sensitive to deadlines and changing priorities, and work within the constraints of the division's budget
Strong customer service skills and the ability to provide program information and respond to difficult and complex public inquiries and requests
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish positive working relationships with other City staff, representatives of school districts, nonprofit organizations, youth groups, and diverse members of the public of all ages
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally, make public presentations, develop effective marketing materials, and write comprehensive reports
Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends
Ability to safely drive a seven-passenger van (training provided)
Ability to lift, drag, and push files, paper, documents, and event supplies weighing up to 25 pounds

Preferred

A Bachelor's degree in public administration, education, recreation, community services, or related field is highly desirable
Experience leading staff and working with school district staff, nonprofit organizations, and youth and teens is highly desirable
