Microsoft 365 Support Intern - Information Technology Division

The Texas Department of Transportation is seeking a Microsoft 365 Intern to provide hands-on support within their Information Technology division. This role focuses on collaboration services, productivity tools, end user support, and operational improvements, allowing the intern to gain practical experience in enterprise operations within a government environment.
Government Administration

Responsibilities

Assist with configuration, testing, and deployment of Microsoft 365 tools (Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Outlook, Forms, Planner, etc.)
Provide Tier 1 support for M365_related issues, including troubleshooting access, permissions, and application performance
Support user onboarding activities related to identity, devices, and collaboration tools
Develop internal knowledge articles, user guides, and standard operating procedures
Document troubleshooting steps, known issues, and service configuration details
Support M365 security initiatives such as MFA validation, conditional access testing, and role-based access reviews
Assist in monitoring compliance alerts and data governance activities under agency policy
Participate in M365 modernization projects, technology rollouts, training sessions, and improvement initiatives
Collect and analyze user feedback, usage metrics, or adoption trends

Required

Must be a student in high school or other educational institution or accepted into a college, university or educational institution
Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education to include a trade/vocational school
Employees at least 18 years of age with valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may use power tools

Preferred

Current enrollment in an accredited college or university program (Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Business Information Systems, or related field)
Foundational understanding of Microsoft 365 or general productivity software
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to non technical users
Ability to handle sensitive information responsibly in alignment with public sector standards
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 admin concepts (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online)
Experience with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI)
Knowledge of identity and access concepts (Azure AD / Entra ID)
Understanding of cybersecurity principles or compliance frameworks
Basic scripting experience (PowerShell) or willingness to learn
