Payroll Systems Analyst

Responsibilities

Assist System Payroll Manager in supporting the daily payroll operations of CNE and its operating units by maintaining and updating payroll/timekeeping systems, as necessary
Analyzes unusual payroll processing and payroll information system problems and formulates a resolution to ensure accurate payment to employees
Assist System Payroll Manager in evaluating existing processes, documenting procedures, and policies for all CNE organizations and opportunities to design and implement consistent changes to improve effectiveness and efficiency through use of technology and industry best practices
Assists in testing of new software, upgrades, changes to pay rules, deductions, entitlement accruals, and other payroll related data elements
Assists in communication and training of payroll system changes to relevant parties
Complies with Federal, State and Hospital regulatory policies and procedures
Researches and resolves problem situations based on facts and policies
Demonstrates effective understanding and use of payroll information system technologies and at the direction of the System Payroll Manager works in collaboration with CNE Information Services and CNE Human Resource Departments to design, implement, test and monitor information systems related to the payroll function
Assists in establishing and maintaining an environment of continuous performance improvement within the department
Demonstrates ability to identify root cause of problems and proposes effective solutions
Assists System Payroll Manager in day-to day operations, special projects, and audits
Orients and trains payroll staff and other department personnel as needed on payroll/timekeeping systems
Advises and assists CNE managers in the application and interpretation of payroll policies, government regulations, and payroll-related provisions of the collective bargaining agreements
Takes the lead in year-end processing to ensure the payroll system is updated for the new year
Works closely with Human Resources to clarify and implement changes and ensures correct and consistent interpretation of personnel policies
Preserves and protects confidentiality of employee and operating unit financial information
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or equivalent required or demonstrated equivalent experience in payroll database management
Must have a minimum of three years experience in payroll and timekeeping
Demonstrate a strong understanding of payroll information system technologies and the ability to work independently while managing multiple responsibilities
Role requires excellent analytical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively
Must demonstrate proficiency in computer skills, including an in-depth understanding of databases and spreadsheet formulas, and apply strong analytical, technical, and organizational skills to solve complex problems
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for collaborating with team members and stakeholders
The ability to lead projects and work effectively in a team environment is crucial
Proficiency in English is required for clear and effective communication
