Engineer - Mechanical Analysis- Nuclear
GE Vernova is a leader in the nuclear energy sector, and they are seeking a Mechanical Analysis Engineer to join their Mechanical Analysis team. This role involves performing analyses on reactor vessels and components to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and effective performance through technical problem solving and collaboration with various engineering teams.

Responsibilities
Develop creative solutions and reduce analysis complexity to create accurate and effective solutions for complex engineering problems
Analyze primary plant structures to develop loads and response characteristics
Confirm Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) or Reactor Internals components meet structural stress and fatigue criteria
Qualify RPV or Reactor Internals repairs or replacement components considering static, dynamic, thermal, and flow-induced loads
Translate design information into detailed analysis models of BWR primary structures and equipment using Finite Element methods and GE in-house computer codes
Engage customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks
Work with the technical leader to establish an effective work plan, including time estimates, schedule estimates, requirements and work processes
Apply engineering fundamentals and 1st order engineering principles to establish and/or confirm expected performance
Provide clear and complete analysis documentation in accordance with GE engineering procedures. Analysis results typically provided in an engineering report for use by external customers
Communicate in a clear, organized and concise manner
Manage time effectively to provide quality deliverables within the expected project timeline. Communicate effectively to leadership the status of work activities
Effectively manage multiple priorities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or University
Minimum of 3 months of engineering experience (internship or Co-Op)
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government
Preferred
Master's Degree or greater from an accredited college or University with an emphasis in Mechanical Engineer/Material behavior/Structural Mechanics
Nuclear Industry knowledge / experience
Strong knowledge of mechanical analysis fundamentals – stress analysis, heat transfer, non-linear systems, vibrations, fatigue, mechanics of materials and drafting practices (including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
Working knowledge of the ASME Section III and XI Codes
Demonstrated ability to model using ANSYS and APDL
Working knowledge of scripting tools such as PROCD, Python, VBA, etc
A self-starter willing to take initiative
