Political Analysis and Programme Development Unit Intern

The Political Analysis and Programme Development Unit Intern will support data collection, analysis, and the development of communication materials to inform strategic decision-making and advance UN Women's goals.

Responsibilities
Support the delivery of timely, gender-informed analysis of political trends and synthesize inputs from Regional and Country Offices into data driven projections used for strategic planning and policy positioning
Support the development of analytical briefs, background documents, and country snapshots for specific regions and countries by conducting targeted qualitative research to inform senior management briefings, intergovernmental processes, and outreach
Support cross-regional learning events and knowledge management tools by drafting and coordinating the preparation of reports
Assist in data collection and desk research to inform analytical and briefing products, including on UN reform and South-South Cooperation, by compiling background materials summarizing key findings and supporting the preparation of draft analytical briefs, background notes, and country snapshots under the guidance of the Regional Specialists
Support meetings and engagement with partners, by preparing background documents, conducting desk research, compiling and synthesizing background information, and editing briefing notes and talking points to ensure materials are accurate and follow established templates
Support the organization of side-events at intergovernmental meetings like the Commission on the Status of Women by drafting and reviewing background documents and checklists for side-events, refining concept notes, speaker bios, and briefing notes
Support the preparation of presentations using such tools as PowerPoint
Support the updating and maintenance of the team’s SharePoint knowledge hub
Qualification
Required
University studies in one of the following disciplines: gender, statistics, social sciences, public policies, social work, law, or other relevant subjects is required
Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent)
Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a two-year period of graduation; or
Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree programme and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required
Preferred
Working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage
Benefits
Interns who are not in receipt of financial support from other sources such as universities or other institutions will receive a stipend from UN Women to partially subsidize their basic living costs for the duration of the internship.
