Instructor and Training Specialist

Responsibilities
Instruct, assess, and support FEP and HEC courses, including grading, curriculum design, and development of assessment tools
Assist in the design and delivery of in-person and Canvas-based online courses for FE and PE exam review programs
Collaborate with NCDOT, state and municipal agencies, and private-sector engineering partners to develop and evaluate innovative, pedagogically sound approaches to teaching complex technical content
Build and maintain collaborative networks of current and former students, instructors, and staff across ITRE to support a team-oriented learning environment
Support the transition of course materials across platforms, media formats, and learning management systems
Contribute to outreach efforts through presentations, workshops, online discussions, and participation in conferences
Qualification
Required
Requires post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor's degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience in construction, transportation, or a related engineering discipline may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis
Excellent communication skills (including public speaking) in written and spoken English
Possess good organization skills and requires minimal supervision; detail oriented
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Demonstrate a high level of initiative and ability to multi-task
Ability to make presentations utilizing good communication and facilitation skills
Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and related Google applications
A valid North Carolina driver's license must be maintained throughout employment and/or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of start date
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Training and Education or Civil Engineering plus three years of transportation engineering and/or training and education experience
Hands-on experience in the transportation field
Professional Engineering license, or the ability to obtain this license preferred
