CNC Machinist and Programmer -- 5-Axis

Fabri is an early-stage investment casting startup building a fully integrated digital foundry. They are seeking a Founding 5-Axis Machinist and Programmer to build and lead their machining capability, responsible for programming, operating, and maintaining 5-axis CNC machines to support finishing of complex metal parts.

Responsibilities

Program, set up, and operate 5-axis CNC machines for complex metal parts
Develop machining strategies for critical aerospace castings, including support removal, degating and innovative fixturing and inspection strategies
Own tooling, fixturing, probing, and CAM workflows
Build and maintain Fabri’s machine shop from scratch: buy decisions for machines, tooling, fixtures, probes etc
Troubleshoot dimensional and GD&T-related issues and feed learnings back to casting and additive teams
Work with the software team to encode machining strategies into the FoundryOS
Define inspection strategies in collaboration with metrology
Establish machining standards and scalable workflows

Required

3+ Years as a 5-axis machinist, with both CAM programming and operating experience
Proven success machining castings or additively manufactured metal parts
Strong command of GD&T and tolerance-driven decision making
Solid intuition for machining physics (cutting forces, stiffness, deflection, thermal effects)
Comfortable owning machines end-to-end in a startup environment
Strong communication skills and cross-functional mindset

Preferred

Aerospace/defense or adjacent manufacturing experience machining critical parts
Experience working in an AS9100 or ISO9001 qualified manufacturing environment
Familiarity with aerospace quality and documentation expectations
Experience with setup and machining of metal castings or metal 3D printed parts
Exposure to metrology tools such as CMMs or 3D scanning
Experience building or scaling a machine shop from the ground up
Experience with tooling/fixture design
