LIBRARY AIDE - PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO GUIDE
The City of Signal Hill is seeking enthusiastic individuals for the Library Aide (Photography Studio Guide) position. This part-time role involves assisting patrons in the Photography Studio Makerspace, providing support for library programs, and engaging with the community through creative media spaces.

Responsibilities
Assists patrons with basic to intermediate questions regarding Photography Studio Makerspace hardware, software, equipment, and devices, following established procedures and staff guidance
Assists patrons in the use of public computers and multimedia resources, including basic operation of cameras, lightning, audio, and photography studio equipment
Provides routine support for the setup, operation, and breakdown of Photography Studio programs, workshops, and events
Assists with routine maintenance, organization, troubleshooting, and inventory tracking of photography and multimedia equipment; reports issues to supervisory staff
Provides basic orientation and instruction to patrons on approved photography, video, and digital media tools and library resources
Responds to general library inquiries regarding services, programs, and resources; refers complex questions to librarians
Assists librarians and other staff with library programs, outreach activates, and community engagement events
Assists with filming and photographing library programs and events under staff direction for promotional or archival purposes
Assists with maintaining appropriate use, behavior, and safety within the Photography Studio Makerspace in accordance with library policies
Assists with filing, sorting, shelving, and organizing books and other library materials, including in the Teen Area
Keeps informed of commonly used photography, multimedia, and makerspace tools utilized by the Library
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED equivalent and one (1) year of college coursework
Customer service experience required
Valid Class C California driver's license, acceptable driving record, and evidence of insurance are required
Preferred
Experience or coursework in photography, multimedia, digital media, or visual arts is desirable
Experience with HTML5, CSS Final Cut Pro, In Design Photoshop, Illustrator or similar software is desirable
Bilingual ability in English/Spanish language
Knowledge of public library operations
College coursework or technical certificates that emphasize digital media
Background in media production within libraries, education, or nonprofit settings
Students currently enrolled in a Master of Library Information Science program are encouraged to apply
Benefits
Part-time employees receive paid sick leave in accordance with California state law per the "Healthy Workplace/Healthy Family Act of 2014" and SB 616. Paid sick leave accrues at the rate of one (1) hour per every thirty (30) hours worked. Part-time employees accrue forty (40) hours per year of employment; these hours can be carried over to the following year for a maximum total accrual of eighty (80) hours.
