Lead Radiation Technician

Responsibilities

Perform routine surveys and post areas accordingly
Support the safe handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials within the laboratory by chemists and other staff
Provide radiation worker training, including on-the-job training for Nusano staff
Perform daily calibration checks, maintain logs for radiation monitoring instruments, and ensure the inventory is accurate and up-to-date
Manage the radioactive materials inventory, including receipt and tracking of radioactive material
Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with radiation safety standards
Distribute and collect personal dosimeters
Responding to radioactive material spills and other radiation emergencies, to include evaluating and executing corrective measures
Investigate incidents and accidents involving radiation exposure and implement corrective actions as necessary
Participate in team meetings and provide daily health physics support

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years of professional radiological technician experience
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of radiation protection, survey instrumentation and analysis and applicable rules, best practices for safe use of radioactive materials and radiation-producing equipment
Experience measuring and evaluating radiological conditions affecting workers and the environment using radiation detection equipment
Proficient computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong attention to detail

Preferred

Associates or Bachelor's degree in health physics, radiation protection, physical science, or related degree
Experience and knowledge of radiation safety practices for Linear Accelerator operations
