Customs Clearance Manager

Responsibilities
Ensure all shipments comply with local and international customs regulations (e.g., INCOTERMS, HTS codes) to avoid penalties
Oversee the preparation and accuracy of import/export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading
Lead the customs team to process entries efficiently, manage brokerage operations for air/ocean freight, and handle customs exceptions
Act as the primary contact with customs authorities, government agencies, and internal stakeholders to resolve clearance issues
Implement strategies to improve efficiency, reduce bottlenecks, and manage duty/tax payments
Train staff on compliance updates and conduct audits on entries to ensure adherence to regulations
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business Administration, or a related logistics field
4+ years of experience in customs brokerage in freight forwarding industry, with at least 2–3 years in a management or supervisory capacity
Expertise in HTS classification, U.S. Customs regulations, and trade compliance
Strong analytical thinking, leadership ability, and proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP/Oracle/CargoWise)
Strong ability to manage teams and work under tight deadlines
