Program Associate

Ally Theatre Company is dedicated to engaging audiences through theatre that confronts systemic oppression in America. They are seeking a passionate and organized Program Associate to support programming and advocacy efforts, foster relationships with Community Advocates, and evaluate programming.

Responsibilities

Support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Ally Theatre & Voices Unbarred programs and partnership events
Coordinate logistics for in-person programming, ensuring smooth execution
Maintain program schedules and work collaboratively to prioritize tasks
Build relationships with potential partners and communicate with existing partners
Help transport event and programming materials, such as props, costumes, and registration materials
Design and lead Theatre of the Oppressed-based or interactive social-justice-minded workshops and gatherings
Serve as the primary point of contact for Community Advocates
Provide logistical and administrative support to Community Advocates, facilitating their active participation
Maintain ongoing, regular touch points with Community Advocates so they are aware of upcoming opportunities and feel connected to the organization
Help plan Quarterly Gatherings and interpersonal workshops for Community Advocates to learn more about leadership and advocacy, build relationships and theatre skills, offer feedback on the organization, and engage with special guest speakers
Coordinate the collection of post-program feedback from partners, participants, audiences, and staff
Ensure data entry occurs, and help analyze the data, evaluating the effectiveness and impact of our programming
Work collaboratively to finalize and update our tools and methods for capturing program data based on our updated Theory of Change
Build and nurture relationships with advocacy partners and coalition members
Represent Ally Theatre & Voices Unbarred at monthly coalition meetings
Support advocacy initiatives by helping craft strategies to have deeper impact
Identify opportunities for Community Advocates to testify or represent the organization at coalition meetings and ensure they have the support needed to be successful
Help maintain the Little Green Light (LGL) donor database, ensuring all donor information and participant data is accurate
Handle physical mail, deposit checks, and track basic expenses/invoices
Coordinate printing of scripts, curriculums, and program materials
Assist in sending 'thank you' notes to donors and partners
Upload and organize photos of programming and events in Google Photos

Required

Ability to build relationships with lots of different types of people
Ability to manage multiple moving parts with strong time-management skills
Passion for social justice
Experience in creative facilitation, applied theatre, or teaching artistry with an understanding of community-based processes over purely aesthetic product
Resourcefulness and problem-solving skills—whether it's finding a 24-hour FedEx or figuring out how to pivot when a participant calls out sick last minute
Flexibility and adaptability–from scheduling with participants to troubleshooting a workshop activity in the moment
Attention to detail
Innovative mindset
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Computer savvy - can navigate, or quickly learn to navigate, Google Suite, email, project management tools, Zoom, and simple editing tools (e.g. GarageBand, Canva, etc.)

Preferred

Experience with program/event coordination or management
Familiarity with community-based nonprofit work
Knowledge of advocacy and/or policy work
Experience working with people who have been incarcerated
Access to a car
