Responsibilities

Operates electric-, diesel-, or gasoline-powered forklifts capable of lifting up to 15,000 pounds to load, unload, stack, unstack, re-warehouse, and move boxes, crates, packages, pallets, or loose items
Destroys a variety of explosives, ammunition, and propellants by detonation and burning, following a variety of procedures specific to the particular items being destroyed
Operates equipment to maintain, raises or lowers grade of roads
Tests continuity of electrical system. Covers primed pits with earth, either by hand or by guiding heavy-duty equipment operators

Required

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation
Must successfully complete training in hazardous waste management procedures within six (6) months after the date of appointment to this position and will not work in unsupervised situations until these training requirements have been met
Employee required to also participate in an annual review of the training in hazardous waste management procedures
Must meet the requirements of AMCR 350-4, Training and Certification Program for Personnel Working in Ammunition Operations
Position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment
Must obtain and maintain a forklift license within (6) months of appointment
Must be cleared IAW requirements of AR 190-11. Physical Security of Arms, Ammunition and Explosives (AAandE)
Position requires incumbent to possess and maintain a valid state driver's license
This position comes under the Drug Abuse Testing Program and the incumbent will be tested in accordance with AR 600-85
Ability to do the work of a(n) Engineering Equipment Operator (Explosives Operator/Crane Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision
Safely operating heavy equipment such as a bulldozer or angle dozer, crawler tractors, graders, track hoes and cranes to break ground for roads, canals, tunnels, or construction sites
Operating semi-automatic machines used to destroy conventional munitions
Following safe and proper methods of handling ammunition or explosives, or movement/storage/verification of hazardous waste/materials
