Campus Technician I (Porter / Entry Level Maintenance)
Catlin Gabel School is dedicated to providing a safe and smooth operation of its facilities. The Campus Technician I plays a crucial role in supporting maintenance and custodial operations, ensuring that the campus environment meets the needs of students and staff.

Responsibilities
Cleans surfaces including glass and flooring, emptying trash in classrooms and athletic buildings, lobbies, restrooms in support of events as scheduled by the Facilities & Events Manager Common areas and restroom wipe downs after breaks and lunch periods
Assist community members in small tasks as requested by the Facilities & Events Manager
Perform project deep cleaning annually or as needed
Support events and the daily operations of the campus, including setups and takedowns
Occasional operation of lifts for deep cleaning, small tractors, and other rental equipment to assist in special projects (e.g. snow removal operations)
Execute work orders as assigned by the Facilities & Events Manager
Learn and use best practices and safety training
Apply good judgement to prioritize and complete tasks
Participate with Facilities team discussions and projects as a valued and integral member
Responsible for securing all facilities as needed, locking/unlocking and arming/disarming buildings
Must complete Golf Cart Training by the end of week one
Participate fully in the life of the school
Participate in ongoing professional development and training to support the Catlin Gabel mission
Complete other work as assigned by the Facilities & Events Manager or Director of Facilities
Qualification
Required
Ability to adapt readily to constantly shifting work scenarios within tight timelines and multiple constraints
Ability to clean surfaces including glass and flooring, empty trash in classrooms and athletic buildings, lobbies, restrooms
Ability to assist community members in small tasks as requested by the Facilities & Events Manager
Ability to perform project deep cleaning annually or as needed
Ability to support events and the daily operations of the campus, including setups and takedowns
Occasional operation of lifts for deep cleaning, small tractors, and other rental equipment to assist in special projects (e.g. snow removal operations)
Ability to execute work orders as assigned by the Facilities & Events Manager

Requires a reliable form of transportation
Frequent operation of cleaning tools and equipment such as backpack vacuums, carpet cleaners, floor polishers, mops, etc
Consistently walks and stands, including moving up and down stairs or hill between facilities multiple times throughout the workday
Frequent bending, squatting, stooping, and kneeling
Regularly ascends and descends ladders
Frequent contact with cleaning supplies, disinfectants, and other chemicals
Works in varying degrees of noise and temperature; includes outdoor weather conditions as necessary
Frequent lifting and moving of materials related to disposal of garbage and recycling, setting up and maneuvering of furniture, ladders, etc
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds as necessary
Push/pull large furniture up to 100 pounds
Preferred
Previous janitorial or general maintenance experience preferred
