Responsibilities

Contribute to design, modeling, integration, and testing of advanced electro-optical systems
Perform parametric studies and analyses to support design decisions
Develop alignment and test procedures
Independently perform hands-on optical alignment, assembly, and precision testing
Develop scripts and algorithms to capture and process test data (MATLAB, Python)
Utilize optical design software (Zemax, Code V, or equivalent) for conceptual and detailed optical system design
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (opto-mechanics, scientists, mechanisms, algorithms) to develop optical solutions
Contribute to technical reports and briefings
Ensure compliance with company standards, program security requirements, and safe laboratory practices

Required

Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education
Hands-on experience with optical integration and alignment
Proficiency in MATLAB/Python for modeling and data analysis
Familiarity with optical design tools (Zemax, Code V, or equivalent)
Background in applied optics, physics, electro-optical systems
Ability to work and communicate effectively in multi-disciplinary technical teams
U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

Preferred

Experience with interferometry or wavefront sensing approaches
Familiarity with optical control systems
