Database Engineer

They are seeking a skilled mid-level SQL Server Developer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise databases, ensuring optimal performance and data integrity.

Responsibilities
Designing new databases and enhancing existing ones to support business needs
Writing complex SQL queries and Transact-SQL (T-SQL) stored procedures to facilitate data retrieval and manipulation
Troubleshooting database issues, documenting problems, and implementing effective solutions promptly
Performance tuning slow-running queries through re-writing, indexing, and optimizing database design
Collaborating closely with Software Engineers and Data Scientists to improve data flow from collection to reporting
Gathering requirements from stakeholders, documenting specifications, and translating them into technical solutions
Monitoring database health, ensuring system stability, and taking proactive measures to prevent failures
Maintaining a positive, proactive attitude and demonstrating a strong desire for continuous professional development
Learning new skills and technologies to stay current with industry trends and best practices
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Minimum of 4 years of professional experience as a SQL Server Data Engineer or Developer
Deep understanding of SQL, database normalization, and design principles
Strong knowledge of Database Engine internals, including buffer pool management, parallelism, execution plans, and indexing strategies
At least 2 years of experience creating, managing, and monitoring data pipelines using ETL/ELT processes
Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, .NET, and Python
Experience working with Business Intelligence (BI) tools for data analysis and reporting
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a positive attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow
Must be able to work in-office in St. Peters, MO, five days a week
